Aim

The situation in Myanmar following the military coup (February 1st 2021) is dramatic and the Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, together with the girls in adoption with the Via Pacis association, are experiencing an extremely critical moment due to the current military dictatorship. With this project we respond to the urgent needs of survival. All interventions will be carried out with the immediacy that circumstances will make possible. The aid consists, in principle, in food, rice, medicines, blankets, clothing, plastic sheets to build shelters, telephone sims and what the young people and nuns are able to find and to buy.

Beneficiaries

The population of Loikaw, the capital of Kayah State, and its surroundings, where tens of thousands of refugees await for help. The Missionary Ancelle Sisters and all the girls welcomed in House of welcome, House of Peace.
Sister Rosanna tells us “In the early times of disorder, the sisters offered refuge and help to the many in need, with their hearts in their throats, hearing the shots just outside the door. Every activity was done silently, because the noises, any noise, could attract the attention of the soldiers who wandered the streets. Later the troops began to punish people who did not obey: the punishments were arrests or burning of their homes. This has led people to be more and more afraid and to feel the need to flee. And so began the exodus of those who fled to the forest or to the mountains. In this desperate situation, solidarity was a light of hope. Numerous and fundamental aid has been received from international associations such as Via Pacis and Caritas Antoniana, which constantly send economic support. They were important aids that made it possible to intervene, with the desire to help and willing to sacrifice their lives, risking everything to reach the people in the forest. All the contributions have worked miracles, because if you don’t have the means, good will is not enough”.
