Aim

In Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, Father Vittorio Blasi has lived and worked for more than 40 years and died in 2016, the historical referent of the Via Pacis projects in that country and replaced by Mrs. Kanyama Sandra now.

At the Shalom Amahoro Center the main objective is to offer hospitality to orphaned children and young people. Over the years, the offer has expanded to education thanks to a kindergarten and a nursery school created by our association.

Father Vittorio wrote about the school:“Teachers are prepared, the parents satisfied and the small school has a name of seriousness and competence in the city (Bujumbura)”.

Beneficiaries

Approximately 100 orphaned children and young people, initially due to the terrible ethnic war between Hutu and Tutsi and later due to illnesses, permanent removal of parents, tribal struggles and so on., receive a family welcome in a dignified environment. During their growth they are helped until they become autonomous.
