Distance adoption: a bridge of peace between Italy and the Philippines

From the 2nd of November to the 31st of December 2018 Anna Cavedon, on behalf of Via Pacis, spent her time visiting the Philippines to meet people involved in the solidarity projects carried out by the Association in various parts of the country. Anna tells us: “It was a time of discovery and wonder. I had the chance to retrace the bridge of peace between Italy and the Philippines. It was a special opportunity to see the evolution of a dream shared by the founders Paolo and Eliana Maino and Sister Rosanna Favero: to be of service to the poorest. I visited schools, canteens, shelters. I met children supported by long-distance adoptions (more than 600), I met the families, visited the sick, shared experiences with young people.Stories of pain, of lack, of sacrifices can be changed by a flash of hope: the distance support. But we consider this distance only a denomination: the Philippines become close, these people become our brothers. And this is how the charisma of Via Pacis is present in that land: they are hands that caress, ears that listen, hearts that dream, lives that build actually peace. And this is how Italy and the Philippines meet: in the miracle of a life that changes”.
